Anxiety has gripped associates and family members of the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, over the state of his health in a London hospital.
He is said to be critically ill and hospitalised for an undisclosed ailment.
Dr Uduaghan has been out of public scene since he left the Government House, Asaba on May 28.
But in a reaction, Uduaghan said he is alive.
In his social media platform, Uduaghan said he was not dead.
The former governor was, silent on his health and conditions.
Sources confirmed that the former Governor suffers from an unusual growth on his head.
The AUTHORITY learnt that he was flown to London when his medical team could no longer handle the issue in China. More worrisome, it was gathered, was the fact that he fell into coma before arriving at the London hospital.
Uduaghan was reportedly in China with his family after his eight-year rule in Delta State before he was flown to London in an air-ambulance.
One of his allies and former cabinet member told The AUTHORITY that the former Governor had been on life-support for about two weeks running.
He had a successful lump surgery during his first term in office and now the lump has grown to the point of covering his eyes.
News of his ailment broke out in the state on Tuesday as many of his followers expressed disbelief and shock.
He is a product of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) Medical School.
His Chief Press Secretary during his tenure as Governor, Mr Sunny Ogefere, however, said his former principal travelled outside the country.
Asked about Uduaghan's alleged ill-health, Ogefere neither confirmed nor denied the rumour as he simply said, "I've not heard from him in a short while; I'm not aware he is sick."
Some of Uduaghan loyalists declined to speak on the issue while others claimed they were not aware.
The former Governor's kinsman and political confidant, Chief Ayiri Emami, refuted the claim, saying he was with Uduaghan earlier this month in London.
