N600m Xmas decoration: Ihedioha lampoons Okorocha

Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha has lampooned Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, for presenting workers with a bleak Christmas, by refusing to pay salaries, and earmarking N600 million for decorations.
In a statement signed by his media aide, Chibuike Onyekwu, Chief Ihedioha said, preparations for Christmas celebration are no doubt a tradition for Christians all over the world, but that in Imo State, it smirks of insensitivity for government to spend N600million on decorations. When families can no longer afford their meals and basic needs, as a result of non-payment of salaries, pensions, and other entitlements.
Ihedioha queried why at this period which he described as critical when Imo citizens are going through untold hardships arising from over 20 months unpaid salary arrears and pensions, grounding of the 27 local government councils, several unresolved industrial disputes, infrastructural collapse, and lack of vision for the genuine development of the state. The government chose to embark on such inciting and frivolous window dressing.
He noted that there have been calls for his impeachment from Imo citizens over the alarming rate of hunger and insecurity caused by inept handling of issues of governance and unrepentant deceit, the Governor has refused to repent or address such concerns and other critical issues.
Ihedioha, the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State expressed worries that despite media reports about Imo missing bailout funds in the possession of his son-in-law, Chief Uche Nwosu. Saying it is heartbreaking that the government has refused to probe the alleged disappearance of the funds, as well as account for the huge sums that have accrued to the state, including the N26billion bailout funds.
