The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed April 30 for the by-Election in Minjibir Constituency for the Kano State House of Assembly.
This was contained iIn a statement signed by the administrative secretary of the electoral body in Kano, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Tukur and issued to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday.
``The by-election is as a result of the death of the former member representing the constituency, Alhaji Hamisu Gurjiya who died in February; 657 ad-hoc staff will be recruited for the election across the 126 poling units and 32 voting point.
“We have concluded all the necessary arrangements for the election, including the charging of the batteries of the 170 card readers to be used during the by-election.
``The commission is expected to receive all the non-sensitive and sensitive materials within next week,’’ the statement said.
It said that the Commissioner of Police in the state had assured that he would provide adequate
officers to ensure a-hitch free exercise.
The statement called on all eligible voters to come out en-mass with their permanent voters’ card to cast their votes in a peaceful and orderly manner.
``During the by-election, accreditation will go simultaneously with voting to reduce time wasting by voters, unlike during the general election, when they were separated,” the statement said. (NAN)
